Free Health Camp at Likhu-2, Okhaldhunga

Okhaldhunga is situated far from the main centers that is total distance between Kathmandu and Okhaldhunga is about 125 KM (kilometers) and 990.99 meters and the mile based measurement distance is 78.3 miles. There is lack of reasonable or decent route because of geographical structures, that is one of the inconvenience or drawback for local people of Okhaldhunga. In substitute, villagers are compel to occupy there. There is no inaccessibility of quality schools, colleges and health facilitating centers. If someone get sick, they couldn’t purchase good merit of health care and it’s too strenuous to bring sick person in health center because of unavailability of facilities.

After obtaining notification and information  about health issues of Okhaldhunga through District health office, Rumjhatar and local leaders, then CHFN WaSH team decided to go Likhu rural Municipality-2, Hulak Chauir, Okhaldhunga. On 9th January, moved from Kathmandu and conducted Free health camp on 10th -11th January started from 9 am to 5 pm in four field: Orthopedic, Pediatric, General and Ophthalmic (Eye) check up including minor surgery.

At first day, huge number of  elderly and children they came for check up with curiosity. We saw the need of health care for people because they were genuinely needy person. Find out most of cataract in patients and correct vision through glasses, Malnourished child, Anemic women, chronic gastritis patients, Osteoarthritis in patients, structural deformities (malformation) and so on.

On last day, conducted minor surgery of cyst, dressing of wound  and referred several patient to hospital for further treatment. Altogether 790 patients were directly benefitted though Camp. Reimbursed awareness to the students of Ganjyoti secondary school about health and hygiene with demonstration of hand washing, brushing, balance diet and good habits of daily life and also handed over First aid box with emergency medicines to the school principal. Thus our small steps brought smile in their face and gave heartily Thanks to CHFN team.
